The Oregon Guitar Quartet is an ensemble of four of the finest classical guitarists currently working in Oregon. The four members, David Franzen, John Mery, Jesse McCann and Bryan Johanson perform original arrangements and compositions for guitar quartet.  Their collective musical interests span centuries of repertoire and dozens of music styles.  The guitar, arguably the most popular instrument on the planet, can be found in nearly every global musical genre.  Oregon Guitar Quartet are committed to presenting that broad musical guitar culture through their repertoire and performances. Their current literature includes compositions by Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Salieri, Albeniz, Granados, Falla, Sibelius, Shostakovich, and Piazzolla. Their unified goal is to play great music from the four corners of the planet on the instrument that speaks to all music cultures.

Both critics and audiences have uniformly praised their premier recording, “Something Wondrous Fair”. The music on that recording spans several centuries of American roots and traditional folk music. In keeping with their mission, this new repertoire explores unusual and innovative ways to present the four classical guitars. Their second recording, “Realizations”, is an all-Baroque album featuring newly transcribed works by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frederic Handel, Antonio Vivaldi, Domenico Scarlatti, and Alessandro Piccinini. Like their first recording, this work has been embraced by critics and has received national airplay.
